Addis Globe, September 19, 2020

Ethiopian female footballer Loza Abera was voted by fans as the Best Player from the Female Division in the 2019-20 Maltese Women’s Premier League season. This 22-year old incredible striker scored 30 goals in only 12 games to guide Birkirkara to their fourth consecutive title and ninth overall.

Loza Abera said she wants to play for top teams in Europe and win more trophies. She told Pan African Football that, “The honour was a bit of a surprise for me. I watched the ceremony live on Facebook. It is a perfect reward to my successful season at Birkirkara. I want to thank the players of my team who helped me in the process. Without them, I could never have reached the level that I am achieving today.”

On her official Twitter posts she said “It’s a great honor to be chosen as MFPA’s Best Female Player of the Year”. “I want to thank God for this moment I’m living in my career and, in my life. Hopefully, I can keep playing at this level and win more trophies by the new season.”, she said.

This is a second European title for Loza Abera. Last year, she won the Swedish “division two” trophy – the Elitettan and in the process helped Kungsbacka get promoted to the top tier. That experience came into play when she moved to Malta.

After ending her contract with Birkirkara, Loza is eyeing a stay in Europe to achieve more success following her exploits in Sweden and Malta.
